FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is virtual personal training the only way to work with A Better You?
Right now – yes, because of COVID-19. Before that, we focused on in-home personal training (in Toronto, Etobicoke, Canada).
When things are back to normal, we’ll continue to provide in-home training AND virtual training for those who prefer it (especially those outside our in-home training service area).
Why is virtual personal training a fantastic solution?
Virtual training is the next best option when in-home training is unavailable—numerous benefits exist.
Our workouts are entirely customized, incredibly effective (even if you don’t possess any equipment!), and – most important of all; it’s safe.
Our clients also enjoy the human connection and interaction of live video compared to a pre-recorded video.
We will keep you motivated, accountable and on track through this unfortunate time to establish lifelong habits and help you come out of this pandemic in better shape than you went into it.
Do I need equipment?
Not at all! All that’s required is a little space, a laptop, tablet or even a phone.
A good workout is based on an evidence-based program, not expensive exercise equipment. Whether you have a gym or nothing at all but a yoga mat, we’ll teach you how to make the most of what you’ve got to achieve results.
Will the workouts eventually get boring?
Nope – this is another benefit of our FBX training program. No two workouts will ever be identical. You can expect every workout to be dynamic, heart-pumping, fun and a challenge – in a way that suits you best.
How do I know that I’ll like my Personal Trainer?
We have exceptionally high standards for our trainers, and nobody joins our team unless they are excellent, compassionate and practice what they preach.
But, if you aren’t happy with your Trainer – or don’t feel they’re a good fit for you – we’ll make it right. No questions asked.
What are your business hours?
We’re open seven days a week, from 5 am to 11 pm Eastern Time, which covers almost any timezone globally.
How often can/should I train?
That’s really up to you! Generally speaking, we would recommend a minimum of twice per week (though some clients train once a week) – but three times per week seems to be the magic number.
Upon completing your consultation, we will make a recommendation based on your needs, goals and budget.
Do you bill in Canadian dollars?
For people in Canada, yes. But for anyone outside of Canada, the rates are the same and billed in US dollars.
Do you offer payment plans?
Absolutely! We’ll let you know your options at your free consultation and first workout!
What happens if I wait until things are back to normal?
We look forward to things getting back to normal. The problem with waiting to workout until we fully start in-home training is you risk gaining more things you don’t want, like body fat, weight, osteopenia, low energy and lack of motivation.
We don’t know exactly when things will return to normal, so this is the ideal option!
Can I just workout with videos on YouTube at home?
Watching free videos or following a cookie-cutter workout will never get the same results as working with a trainer.
To be brutally honest, If you didn’t need the accountability of an appointment and a Trainer, you’d probably be using YouTube already.
Videos, manuals and guides can be great in the beginning. What you don’t get is a customized FBX program.
You don’t have someone focused on ensuring that you’re performing exercises correctly and safely. A video doesn’t know your goals, injuries, or limitations, but your Trainer does.
Unfortunately, watching a video will never be as effective as working with a trainer in a live or virtual personal training session.
A trainer will push you harder and challenge you. A video can’t generate that same kind of effort and, indeed, not the same results.
Is walking, for now, good enough?
Moving your body is excellent; however, it isn’t going to have the same result!
Simply walking doesn’t do much to help build strength. This doesn’t mean you should stop walking, but it doesn’t mean you should stop strength training either.
Will having a lot of family at home be a problem?
Not at all. This is the new norm for us, and we are fully prepared to train you despite any potential distractions or interruptions.
One way to work around this is to have a designated space in the house for the entire family’s health & wellness!
We can’t help but emphasize how important it is to maintain regular routines now, and your workouts are no exception. This is a vital stress management component and helps keep anxiety low.
